Travel Light

We go through life, more or less aware and conscious of it, of ourselves, and of the path. Sometimes we can be in a delay of letting go of what’s our past, what’s redundant, what’s no longer serving, what’s preventing us from moving forward, and what’s slowing us down and disempowering us.

We do move, we do persevere, we keep on, we do our best. We do many things. Sometimes maybe too many. We sometimes carry on with maybe too much of ‘ourselves’, of ‘our life’, of ‘our story’, of ‘our wishes, pains, achievements, etc.’. And we live with too much willingness and too many thoughts of what and how and…Not fully being in our lives, embracing what is, and what’s already behind, and not noticing possibilities we are already offered, but pondering on what if… Being with ‘our head’ either somewhere behind or ahead of ourselves, losing the potential of us being where and how we are today.

By practicing and creating my new way of living and working, I’m learning now that there is just the right pace, just the right energy flow, and exchange, and just the right state of mind and being to recognize easily the next what and how. Not more, and not less, just the right. There is ‘just the right’ if I move ‘myself’ away, or at least not stumble myself, or get distracted too much from the outside. There is that place/state, if I’m not trying to be too smart and in control of it. Hard/easy, good/bad, like/dislike, and similar black-and-white types of descriptions don’t say and help much in this state of mind and being.

This different state of mind and releasing the ‘issues of trust’. You just trust. And at a crossroads, and with different challenges on your path you just “abandon the shoes that had brought you here right at the water’s edge, not because you had given up but because now, you would find a different way of tread, and because, through it all, part of you could still walk on, no matter how, over the waves.”, as David Whyte says in his poem Finisterre. Or for people who like the flying metaphors like I do, a quote from Toni Morisson ‘If you want to fly, you have to give up the things that weigh you down.’ And another one for people like me wanting to make a difference, ‘It is not the honor you take with you, but the heritage you leave behind.’, from Branch Rickley. The ‘fil rouge’ here is to travel light through life. That means head and heart light; past-present-future light; I-we-world perspective light; life experiences and lessons learned light; and ongoing learning and growing light.

I think I’m slowly getting ‘life smarter’. With this statement, I know there’s another life lesson just around the corner for me, but anyhow, today seems to be clear and I feel confident saying these words. I’m slowly getting to appreciate and acknowledge more and more all these small shifts that make a major difference in my life, and not celebrating mainly the ‘big ones’. Life and spiritual-wise I think it’s actually quite the opposite, what is ‘the small’ and ‘the big’, as it seems in the materialized world.

My newly clarified life guidance is now ‘Travel Light – Dance Free – Create Powerfully’. What’s yours?
